Sharon Payne Jones

Sharon Payne Jones, 61, of Lexington, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home, on Sunday, May 25, 2025.
Sharon was born on March 22, 1964, in McDowell County, West Virginia to the late Lawson Howard Payne and Lula Mae Baker.
She worked as a CNA in the healthcare industry and had a fierce love for her children, grandchildren, and all of her family.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Rosella Norman, Birdie Payne; three brothers, Elias Payne, Herman Payne, Burl Payne; and a sister in law, Connie Payne.
Survivors include her husband, Ricky Lee Jones; two sons, Joseph Lee Jones, Thomas Joseph Keene (Tristan); two daughters, Jessica Keene, Chastity Huneycutt (Ray); eleven grandchildren, Zander, Carter, Khalin, Kara, Ocean, Solara, Aayla, Brayden, Liam, Kasee, Leland; three sisters, Karen Hankins (Rick), Lola Click (AC), Beatrice Payne (Benny); two brothers, Virgil Payne and Arnold Payne (Lisa) and her best friends, Christy Davis and Arlene Hinton.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Affordable Funerals and Cremations of Davidson County Chapel, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Affordable Funerals and Cremations of Davidson County Chapel, at 2:00pm, with Rev. Timothy Sink, officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

I love you Sharon and gonna miss seeing your beautiful face everywhere I went you always felt like a mother to me you and mom were best friends for many years since I was 5 or 6 last time I talked to you wasn’t that long ago and you talked about how you missed mom now you’re with her in heaven Ik you’re not suffering no more pain and no more sorrow you got a new body cancer free you’re gonna be dearly missed and we wish you didn’t have to go but we know God had other plans he seen you were tired so he gave you rest we love and miss Sharon always

How in the world is this happening with Julie in Sept and now you. We have been childhood friends since we were little tikes in English. Me, Katie , you and Julie were always somewhere doing something but Mommy and Lula Bell knew that all they had to do was holler at the tracks and here we go. We grew older, we moved away but Cookie was always my FB to keep up with you girls. I’m gonna miss you and I know Katie and Beet is going to be lossed to death without you. They will watch over your babies and tell Julie I love her and miss her so much. I’m sure she was glad to see you. We love you angel, no more hurting, no more pain. Bare foot you and Julie are except no gravels or rocks….roads of gold and clouds. I love you my friend, rest in peace 🕊️

Sharon/mama with me getting to know you over the past year on FaceTime with Chasity we laughed and I will miss you very much and you are gonna be missed by so many you’ve touched so many people’s hearts especially mine. I have thought for days about what to write. How can I put into words how much I miss my sister and best friend for over 35 years or how heartbroken i am? Sharon you brought so much love, joy and light into not only my life but so many others also. Since the first day I met you you have treated me like family . You gave my daughter shanah her first birthday party at your house. You have always loved my kids like your own and I love yours just the same. I am going to miss your calls, texts and messages and our long talks ” hey sis , whatcha doing?”. Thank you for always being there for me and for helping me through all the sad times . I love you Sharon, give my momma a big hug for me. I know she smiled and hugged you as soon as you entered the gates of heaven. She always loved you. Although I miss you terribly, I take comfort in knowing I will see you again someday soon. I love you my “sis” forever.
