Michael Chad Boone

9/25/1972 - 10/9/2025

Michael “Mike” Chad Boone, 53, of Lexington, NC, passed away peacefully in his hometown, surrounded by those who loved him. Affectionately known as “Boone” to family and friends he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Mike will be remembered for his kind heart, sense of humor, and the love he poured into his family and passions.

A native of Lexington, Mike graduated from Central Davidson Senior High School, where he built lifelong friendships and a deep connection to his community. Mike was a huge supporter of Valor Memorial Park where he could be found by the grill barbequing chicken and ribs at the monthly fundraiser.

A naturally gifted musician, Mike found his voice through the bass guitar, playing with soul and joy.  To Mike, music was a refuge.  It provided the ability to cope and heal.  Music is the speech of angels and literature of the heart and when it hits you there is no pain.

His love of Clemson football ran deep, and Saturdays in the fall were always spent cheering on the Tigers.

Mike was born, September 25th, 1972, and is predeceased by his parents Robert and Joyce Boone.  He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Boone; his daughter, Caitlin Brianna Boone; and his stepson, Dylan Michael Hege. Mike was a proud grandfather to Miyah Ortiz and Nikko Ortiz, who brought him endless pride and happiness.

He is also survived by his sister, Loria Boone Darr, and his brother, Chris Boone, along with Chris’s wife, Jill Boone. Mother-in-law, Linda Snider.  Mike was a cherished uncle to Kailee Boone, Emily Boone, Matthew Darr, Grayson Potts and Rylan Potts (and their father Chris Potts).

Mike’s passion for music, love for family, and unwavering loyalty to his team and friends made him someone people naturally gravitated toward. He had a way of making others feel seen, heard, and loved.

Mike had a close connection to animals.  Dabo his service dog, and his other dog

T-Law, as well as several cats were a major part of his life.  He spent countless hours nurturing and spending time with them.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Affordable Funerals and Cremations Chapel (1403 South Main St, Lexington, NC) from 12:30pm to 2:30pm, to celebrate Mike’s life.

There will also be another Celebration of Mike’s life at 3:30pm on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at the Goose & Monkey (401 S. Railroad Street, Lexington, NC) where friends and family are asked to join in to cheer on the Clemson Tigers as they play SMU.

The family invites friends and loved ones to remember him with stories, laughter, and music — just the way he would have wanted.
