Betty Emily Gilliam (Morris), age 90, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Hospice Facility ~ Alderwood of Davidson County, NC. She was born on August 31, 1936, in Jonesville, Virginia to parents Harrison and Maude Allen Morris. Her most important role was being a wonderful, loving, caring Wife, Mother, and Grandmother, personifying the virtuous woman as described in Proverbs 31: “Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.”

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son Charles Michael Gilliam and siblings Mozelle Matthewson, Gaynelle Price, Bill Morris, Juanita Morris, Blaine Morris, Joyce Jones, Johnny Morris, and Stanley Morris.

She is survived by her Husband of 71 years, Clyde Gilliam; Siblings: Libby Latham, Melba Hingerty, and Dale Morris; Children: Janet Weismantel (husband Rick), and Susan Andry (husband Gary); Grandchildren: Kari Cutler, Robin Coombs (husband Kareem), Brent Burnett (wife Heather), Matthew Jones, Sarah Poe, Harrison Andry (wife Molly), John Andry, Emily Gilliam, and Nia Smercina (husband Ian); Great-grandchildren: Emmett Smercina, Annalise Gilliam, Camden, Cayden, Paxton Coombs, Reece Orick, Lilah, Avery,& Uriah Poe, Aurora, & Gwen Andry; & Many cousins, nephews and nieces.

Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 1:00pm at McConnell Cemetery in Jonesville, Virginia, with Jimmy Latham officiating.
