Obituary For Bonnie Sue Burton
Bonnie Sue Burton, our beloved mother, was called home on Mother’s Day, May 10, 2026, at the age of 58.
A native of Guilford County, NC, Bonnie was born on September 7, 1967, to the late Kermit Burton and Delores Jean Cecil. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Willard and Dusty, and two sisters, Jane and Jefforie.
Bonnie is survived by her son, Devon Gregory; her daughter, Carrie Burton (Dexton Shore); and her two cherished grandchildren, Jordana and Sutton. She also leaves behind four sisters, Paula, Cindy, Dixie, and Angie; one brother, John; and a best friend who became a sister, Christy (Philip). Her legacy lives on through a large, loving family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, a great-great-nephew, several cousins, and countless friends across the country—all of whom she loved fiercely.
Professionally, Bonnie was a force in the trucking industry. She spent her entire career as a dispatcher and office manager, roles she filled with immense passion. Through her work, she didn’t just manage logistics; she made a genuine difference in the lives of her colleagues, forging a huge number of lifelong friendships along the way.
Bonnie was a woman of many passions and a heart of gold. An avid animal lover, she dedicated her time to helping rescue organizations, gathering donations, and personally rescuing animals in need but she loved her Rottweilers (Roxy and Rosa) more than anything.
A true fan of Rock n’ Roll, Bonnie could often be found listening to AC/DC, ZZ Top, Ozzy Osbourne, KISS, and many more of her favorites. She found joy in the simple things in life had to offer—whether she was swimming, shooting pool, playing Pac-Man (every chance she got), watching WWE, or diving into true crime and murder mystery shows. She loved the beach and the mountains, and she always had an eye for a nice IROC-Z Camaro.
Bonnie will be remembered as a brilliant, witty, and loyal woman with a beautiful soul and a hilariously (at times) sarcastic sense of humor.
To honor Bonnie’s request for a celebration, a memorial will be held on Tuesday, May 19th, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Short Circuit in Lexington, NC.
