Obituary For James William Burkhart

James William Burkhart, 73, of Lexington, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem, North Carolina.

James was born on February 23, 1953, in Davidson County, North Carolina to the late James Murphy Burkhart and Mary Magdeline Crotts Burkhart.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Tammy Burkhart; and several brothers and sisters.

James attended Pilgrim Freewill Baptist Church in Lexington.

Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer Burkhart; brother, Rex Burkhart; four grandchildren, Joshua Creech Jr., Sara Creech, Haley Tucker (Tyler), and Zachary Odom; and two great-grandchildren, Nolynn Creech and Sonnie Hall.

The family will have a Celebration of Life service on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 12:00pm, at Affordable Funerals and Cremations Chapel, with Pastor James Messer, officiating. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service, from 11:00am-12:00pm. Interment will take place at Forest Hill Memorial Park immediately following the service.

    Rex, We were very sorry to hear of James' passing. We will miss having him stop by the shop. May God bless you in these very difficult times. James had a one of a kind personality and he will be your Guardian Angel from now on.
