Obituary For Jilda Jenkins Duffey

Jilda Jenkins Duffey, 83, passed away peacefully on August 10th, 2025, just two days before her eighty-fourth birthday.

She is survived by her loving husband, Charles Duffey; her son Clint Thomas and his wife Cheryl; her step son, Brett Duffey and his fiancee, Lorraine; step grandson, Sgt. Brett Duffey, II, USMC; granddaughter, Ashley Southern and her husband, Paul; and a great granddaughter, Bailey Southern.

Jilda was born August 12, 1941 in Winston-Salem, NC to Tom and Lib Jenkins. She graduated from Gray High School in Winston-Salem and began her career at First Federal Savings and Loan. She later joined BB&T, now Truist, where she retired after 41 years of service. She was a member of Macedonia UMC in Southmont.

Jilda was a devoted mother, loving wife, and a woman who embraced life to the fullest. She loved to travel, entertain, and gather with family and friends. Her warmth and generosity extended beyond her home, as she helped many people in the High Rock Lake community.

Most importantly, Jilda was a woman of faith, saved by Jesus Christ, and is now in Heaven, leaving behind a legacy of love, joy and service to others.

Hilda " Punkie" Jenkins Jilda. She was an amazing woman—full of life, laughter, and light. Jilda had a way of making every room brighter just by walking in. Though she is no longer here with us, her kindness, her laughter, and her love will never fade. I am grateful we meet. Rest in peace, Jilda—you will always be loved, missed, and remembered.
