Obituary For Max "Darrell" Shoaf Jr.

Max “Darrell” Shoaf Jr., 66, of Michael Road, passed away peacefully at his home on October 15, 2026.

Darrell was born on July 28, 1960, to Max Shoaf Sr. and Letha Owens Shoaf. He followed in his father’s footsteps by becoming the pastor of Psalms 91 Church after his father’s passing. Darrell loved being a pastor and serving the people of his church. Even during hospitalizations, his heart longed to return to the church to share the Word of God. In addition to his ministry, Darrell served as the groundskeeper at Psalms 91 Church for many years. He especially enjoyed mowing the church property and driving the tractor.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Max Shoaf Sr. and Letha Owens Shoaf; his daughter, Talitha Renee Thompson; his grandmother, Ruby Michael Shoaf; and his brother-in-law, Tim Yarboro.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Cindy Shoaf; his stepsons, Michael and Christopher Pyron; his children, Jillian (Brian) Cormier, Max Darrell Shoaf III, Michaela (Joshua) Winter, and Cassidy (Benjamin) Browning; his grandchildren, Rayleigh Cormier, Kensley Thompson, Keely Cormier, Hudson Cormier, Clark Cormier, Jackson Browning, Xiamara Winter, Willa Browning, Isaiah Winter, and Sophie Browning; his sisters, Susan Shoaf, Lee Yarboro, Gina (Bo) Adams, and Bridgette Shoaf; and three nieces and five nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Psalms 91 Church, with funeral services to follow. Burial will take place at Garden of Life Cemetery. A meal will be provided for family and friends following the burial.
