Peggy Lindsay Wilson Scanlan

10/14/1927 – 7/13/2026

Peggy Lindsay Wilson Scanlan, beloved mother, wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Monday, July 13, at the age of 98. Born on October 14, 1927, Peggy lived a long and meaningful life marked by love, resilience, and devotion to her family. Widowed twice, she carried herself with grace and strength, and she will be remembered for her kindness, vibrant personality, and quick wit.

Peggy was born in Lafayette, Louisiana, to Lena and William Lindsay on October 14, 1927. She earned her master’s degree from the University of Louisiana and went on to become a successful and impactful teacher, touching the lives of many students through her dedication, wisdom, and care.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Lena and William Lindsay; her husbands, Frank Emmette Wilson Jr. and Michael Scanlan; her sister, Bonita Lindsay Guilot; and her brothers, William B. Lindsay and Hubert Lindsay. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Rhonda Wilson Whitfield, Emmette Wilson (Janet), and William Wilson (Beth); her stepchildren, Kathy Sullivan (Mark), Michael Scanlan (Linda), Becky Scanlan, Charles Scanlan (Jennifer), and Nancy Savoy (Keith); as well as by her seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Peggy lived 98 remarkable years filled with love, laughter, strength, and purpose. She had a way of making those around her feel seen and valued, whether through her kindness, her quick wit, or her unmistakable personality. Through her family, friendships, students, and all who had the privilege of knowing her, Peggy touched countless lives and leaves behind a legacy of warmth, wisdom, and enduring love.

A private ceremony will be held at a later date.
