Obituary For Robert W Archer Sr.

Robert W. Archer Sr.

April 18th 1944- October 14th 2026

Robert W. Archer Sr, passed away peacefully at his home on October 14th, 2026. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, exceptional craftsmanship, and lifelong passions. He was born on April 18th, 1944 in Mount Holly, New Jersey, to John and Virginia Archer. He graduated with the Rancocas Valley Regional High School Class of 1962, where he participated in track and field. He spent much of his life in Hainesport, New Jersey, from 1969 until 2021, when he chose to enjoy his retirement in Thomasville, North Carolina.

Bob dedicated 56 years of his life to running and operating Bob’s Collision, building a reputation for his knowledge, skill, and remarkable ability to repair and restore automobiles. His work was more than a career; it was a craft he took great pride in and a passion that defined much of his life. During the 1970’s, Bob became known as “Corvette Bob”, earning a reputation as the only Corvette specialist in South Jersey. He possessed a rare talent for restoring Corvettes, including vehicles that had been totaled and seemed beyond repair by using fiberglass and his extraordinary expertise. Bob could bring these classic cars back to life. He was truly a master of his craft in understanding the patience, precision, and dedication required to rebuild a Corvette. Bob was also a member of the Corvette Club and opened his garage to fellow enthusiasts by hosting monthly meetings where others could share their love of these iconic cars. His knowledge and craftsmanship made him a respected figure among Corvette enthusiasts, and his legacy will live on through the vehicles he restored.

Bob’s love for automobiles extended beyond Corvettes. Bob was an avid NASCAR fan and a devoted Harley-Davidson enthusiast, and he especially enjoyed rides on his Heritage Softail. During the late 1980’s into the 1990’s, he also competed as an enduro race car driver, traveling throughout New Jersey for races. Whether restoring a Corvette, riding his Harley, watching NASCAR, or competing on the track, Bob embraced the excitement and freedom that came with the things he loved. Beyond his mechanical talents and love of racing, Bob had a deep passion for American and World history. He enjoyed watching the History Channel and reading from his extensive collection of History books. He held a particular interest in World War II, inspired in part by his father, John Archer, who served during the war.

Bob had a special love for Dobermans, admiring their loyalty, intelligence, and protective nature. These remarkable dogs held a special place in his heart, and their companionship brought him great joy throughout his life. The bond he shared with his dogs was something special, and the memories of those beloved companions will always be a part of his story.

For thirty years, Bob shared his life with his wife, Dottie Archer. Their marriage was an important part of his life, and the years they spent together created memories that will always be treasured. Together, they made a commitment to stand by one another through life’s joy and challenges. Though she must now face life without him beside her, the love they shared over three decades will never fade. Bob will be deeply missed by his wife, Dottie, his family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Bob is survived by his wife Dottie Archer, and his loving family. He leaves behind his children Robin (Mike), Robert (Sally), Patti (Todd), and Shannon (Ryan). Bob’s legacy continues through his grandchildren: Josh (Anna), Jennifer (Dallas); Laci, Mikayla (Sirvon), Lauren, Lindsey (Jared); Kaeden and Raeven. He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren, Cameron, Jacob, Urijah, Kaiden, and Glenn, who represent the generations that will carry his memory forward. Bob is also survived by his brothers, Kenny (Dottie) and Gary (Shirley), along with many nieces and nephews who are part of his extended family.

He will also be missed by his beloved animal companions, Queenie, Yabird, Ruby, Teddy Bear and Black Bear, who brought their own special joy to his life.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, John and Virginia Archer and his daughter, Virginia. Bob’s family was an important part of life, and the memories they shared with him will be treasured for years to come. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will through the many people who loved him.

A master of his craft, a racer at heart, and a legend in his own garage, Bob will never be forgotten. A Celebration of Life will be held in in NJ, at a later date to honor and remember Robert “Bob” Archer Sr. Family and friends will have the opportunity to come together to celebrate his life, share memories, and honor the legacy he leaves behind.
