Obituary For Sarah Jane Hobart Haire

Sarah Jane Hobart Haire, 80, of Linwood, North Carolina, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her own bed on Sunday, August 23, 2026.

Sarah was a woman of deep compassion, empathy, and unwavering love for her family. She had a heart for helping others and was known for always going above and beyond for the people she loved. Her family was her greatest joy, and she gave of herself freely, offering love, comfort, strength, and support whenever it was needed. Her presence brought warmth to those around her, and her kindness touched many lives.

Sarah dedicated more than 35 years of her life to caring for others through her work at Lexington Memorial Hospital, where she eventually retired. Her compassion for people extended far beyond her workplace and was simply a part of who she was.

She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, especially fishing and swimming. She also loved watching science fiction movies and shark movies, and those who knew her will remember the joy she found in these favorite pastimes.

Sarah was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James F. Mollohan; her mother, Edna Lathrop of Virginia; and her father Harry Hobart & Stepmother, Louise Hobart of Webster Springs, West Virginia.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, James P. Mollohan Sr. and his wife, Rebecca Mollohan, and Tammy Sue Manchette; her grandchildren, Joseph Mollohan, James Mollohan Jr., Jaimielee Large, Christian Mollohan, and JJ Large; and her great-grandchildren, Spencer Cole Mollohan, AJ Mollohan, McKenzy Large, and Isabelle Large and one on the way, she is also survived by her brother and his wife, Mike & madeleine Lyttle, and her sister, Vivian Beck, along with many extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.

Sarah’s life was a testament to the love she carried for others. She believed in helping people, caring for those in need, and being there for her family no matter what. Though her family will deeply feel the emptiness left by her passing, they can find comfort knowing that the love she gave so freely will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all those whose lives she touched.

Her family takes comfort in knowing that Sarah is now at peace and resting in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, free from sorrow and pain. Though she is no longer here with us, her love, her kindness, and the memories she created will remain in the hearts of her family forever.

Until we meet again, Mom, Grandma, and Great-Grandma. You will be loved, missed, and remembered always.

Written by her son; James Mollohan Sr.
