Obituary For Sherry Ann Frye Smith

Sherry Ann Frye Smith, 71 of Winston-Salem, went to be with the Lord on October 20, 2026, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist in Winston-Salem. Sherry was born in Davidson County, NC on September 3, 1955 to the late Reverend Norman Sanford Frye and Mary Ann Frye.

In addition to her parents, Sherry was preceded in death by her brother Lawrence Timothy Frye.

Sherry was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who loved her family and the Lord. She retired from Baptist Hospital after many years of working in medical coding and was a certified instructor that loved teaching others over the years. Her grandsons and great grandson each held a special place in her heart. Lovingly known as Nana, she always made the time spent with her family truly special. Some of the things she enjoyed doing most with her family were vacationing at the beach together and making Christmas a special time of year for gathering and making memories.

Words left here cannot begin to describe how much Sherry meant to her family and friends and what a tremendous impact she had on the lives of everyone she touched. Gone from this world but never from our hearts, her memory will live on through all of those who are blessed to have had her in their lives.

Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband Clarence Manard Smith of Winston-Salem, children Michelle Smith of Winston-Salem, Tonya Meadows (Donald) of Lexington, grandchildren Jacob Smith (Megan), of Archdale, Austin Hetrick (Rebecca) of Kernersville, Brandon Hetrick of Lexington, great grandson Everette Smith of Archdale, sister Deborah Guthrie and brother Norman Frye both of Winston-Salem. Sherry was a long time patron of Cheveux Salon in Winston-Salem and Mark and Terry have been dear friends to her over the years.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
